Carlos Delgado and the Hall of Fame

Delgado’s days of trying a comeback in baseball are officially over as the brawny basher recently announced his retirement.  One of the best players in Toronto Blue Jats history, Carlos compiled some rather impressive career stats.  One of the best on-base-plus-slugging guys in the history of the game, Delgado ended his career with a solid offensive line of .280 BA/.383 OBP/.546 SA.  The big first baseman reached 2,000 career hits, 1,500 career RBI and 1,200 career runs scored.  His 1,512 career RBI rank him 49th all-time but he rests higher on the all-time homerun chart with 473–30th on the career list.  His homerun total is just two behind Willie Stargell and Stan Musial and rests ahead of such notable Hall of Famers as Dave Winfield, Andre Dawson and Billy Williams.
